ABOUT ME & THE CANDLES

Christine McConelks curious creations is where it started. I ended up experimenting with my own candles in containers and was obsessed.. I would keep a record on every single batch made with wick sizes, scent list and amounts, dates, and weather..

I got a nasa map to see where the bees were foraging different types of flowers. like sage, manzanita, citrus, star thistle.. started reaching out to beekeepers.. and dove into beeswax.

looking back at my candle journals, I noticed that each time i was making candles it happened to be a full moon~ I did not plan this..

over the lock down I became very close with a few wild birds. one being a scrub jay another a raven.

I was making candles in my dining room and kept thinking of carpe diem~

mimento mori

I started looking things up and found the word

meridiem. It is the time where the light is mid day .. the middle glow.. the sun trying to shine through the clouds at

11

i said it out loud and my raven friend started squawking and hopping along my fire escape.. and so I decided

meridiem is the name.

CANDLE BURNING TIPS~

always trim the wick

the flame should be small

container candles~ burn for an hour or more the first time you light it. It will help your candle burn evenly and last longer.

BLOOM~

bloom happens to beeswax candles if they are cold. they get a light grey layer looking like dust on them.. sort of an aging effect. some people like this. However, if you would like your beeswax candles to look fresh and shiny.. leave it in a sunny window when you are not burning. Beeswax will not melt in the window.. unless you are somewhere that is 130 degrees outside.

If you need to make it look new and fresh quickly~ you can use a hairdryer lightly and you will watch the bloom disapear. its fun

‘OLD WORLD EXPERIENCE’

candles drip! some allot less then others~

beeswax is very forgiving

I have spilled a whole pitcher of hot pink wax on a rug.. I managed to get it all out by using an iron over paper towels.

I have spilled it on hard surfaces like wood floors- I used a hairdryer and paper towels to clean it all up.

I accidently dipped my hair in bright red beeswax and got it out using a hairdryer and paper towels.

you can put olive oil on your brass candle sticks if you do not wnt to get wax on them. it makes it so you can easily remove.
